LOST AND FOUND
Boston Street Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of new work by Mary Galgon and Bill Russell.
The show, entitled “Lost and Found”, alludes to Mary's inward-gaze to create drawings that produce a personal story, or emotion
and to Bill's search for the relation between construction and discovery to create a world of singularity.
Relationships between Bill's and Mary's work are driven more by a fascination with the process of invention and discovery and their shared life than by common technique or objective.
Mary Galgon, a native Philadelphian, is a PA Academy of the Fine Arts graduate. Her recent works are based on childhood memories, emotional connections with nature, and explorations inspired by her figure drawings. Her new work, in charcoal and pastel, strives to create a sense of place combined with an expressionistic approach to our inner and outer world.
Bill Russell received his MFA in Painting from Miami University of Ohio. He works primarily with the folk technique of vinegar painting popular in the nineteenth century for decorative furniture painting. For the last several years he has employed this technique to create layered imagery within grids and arcs combined with found sections of twigs and branches.
The opening reception is June 8 from 2-5 PM. We look forward to seeing you there.
